Maintence to Ministry

When the wall was finished Nehemiah has to shift the focus to the building project from building the wall to building the people. He set up gatekeepers, guards, singers, and Levites to defend the city and to return the focus back to God. The final thing that He did in Nehemiah 7:1-4 was he choose to draw on a open promise that God had made to the people. If we are to go from Maintence to Ministry we have to guard our hearts, defend what God has built and bring our focus back to God while relying on His promises that He has made to us.

Resurrection Power

There was great power in the resurrection, and that power is still alive today. When Paul wrote his letter to the Romans he said he was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus for it was the power of God, but what can the power of God do? In this sermon we see that the power of God can resurect the Savior, reach the sinner, and reclaim the Saint.

Battling Burnout

There is nothing on earth that if you push it hard enough it wont burn out, and in churches we are sometimes the worst at burning out our best people. The question then becomes how do we keep from burning out? Nehemiah came to the problem in his rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem, he was about to lose his workers, so he devised a plan to battle burnout. He found the strength in prayer, the strength in the body (unity) and the strength in the Lord.

In God’s Hands

Ezra led the second group of exiles back to Jerusalem, but along the way he stops along the river of Ahava and leads the people to pray and fast. He understand that if God doesn't bless the trip they're about to take that they are doomed. The fact that we all need to understand is that we are in God's hands, and the best way to deal with that is to surrender to His will just like Ezra and the people of God did. They sought for God's wisdom, courage and strength along the way.

In God’s Time

We always say that God's timing is perfect, but have you ever thought about how everything in the Bible works together as one greater picture. In this sermon we look at how that Nehemiah and Esther might have played a part in working out God's plan of bringing revival, restoration and rebirth back to the Nation of Israel so that utimatly Jesus could one day give His life for our sins in that very city.
